The Clients of this private residence wanted to recreate the `resort` experience of Bali that they loved so much. The site, chosen by the Architect, inspired an introverted U-shaped house which focussed, from all rooms, onto a Balinese landscaped courtyard and plunge pool.
The design comprises a pavilion cluster connected by an internal corridors and an external verandah with disappearing sliding glazed walls connecting inside with out.
The imported Indonesian stone used on the floors flowed throughout, to further enhance the indoor/outdoor synergy. The master and guest ensuites both aspect private courtyards with outdoor showers. Local Indonesian materials were imported to enhance the Balinese flavour and included coconut verandah posts with carved stone bases, palimanan stone pavers, carved statues and pots.
